A large part of being Green is being smarter about decisions. Most of us do not ever realize there are choices, so anything that can offer insights as to what other possibilities or alternatives might be available is helpful.
In that spirit, we offer a good deal of information about our materials, our supply chain, why they are better for the planet and how they move to reduce the negative effects of consumer activity. Since we are all consumers, and we are all going to acquire what we feel best suits our needs, why not make educated choices at as many turns as possible?
The Concept of Choice
When in need of a household cleaner, there are many choices. When in need of replacement light bulbs, there are many choices. When in need of new linens, there are many choices. All of these choices have different resource requirements, different life cycle expectations, different health sensitivity, different social standards and different prices. Trying to navigate these choices for products you already know is hard enough, let alone trying to imagine what positives or negatives may be embedded in other products that you may not have even considered.
The more GreenSmart you become, the easier it is to expand your choice making. When is buy local important? How do you balance health and resource consumption? How do you balance price with any of them?
The one thing we can all agree on is that the more that people make better choices, the fewer resources are consumed, the better living conditions people will face, the higher standard of care all companies will put into their products.
If you take this thinking with you to wherever it is you work and play, you will find new ways to be GreenSmarter. Do you use the backside of white paper? Does the restaurant fly in fresh produce from far away? Do the lights get turned off in the break room?
You are the empowered consumer. We hope we can help you create a reasoning system that will empower you to make progress toward being Green. Green is not a destination. It is a way of thinking and being.
